Came here to post the usual iphone in tape slot jokes, but discovered that these things exist. Kinda neat.

Audi and BMW eg still had cassette decks until the mid 00s as standard. At least there are adapters for cassette decks to connect your phone. Something CD players don’t have smh.

My Honda Civic ‘99 still has its original tape deck, including the fact that it lights up along with the dashboard. Since I don’t want to remove it, I just bought a cheap-o FM transmitter that plays MP3 from pen drives and SD cards. Since it has the Honda Logo™, nobody even wants to steal it. There are even tape-shaped MP3 players designed to replicate a tape, exactly for that purpose. Pretty old, but neat...

Kinja'd!!!

One 32 GB pen drive and never thought about changing it again. You don’t need to change it as well.

Me too. It’s the only way I can play audio from my phone (with one of those cassette adaptors).

Get a bluetooth cassette. I only have to charge mine once per week and the sound quality is pretty damn good.

Forget all these new-fangled gadgets. It’s time to go old-school.

It’s time for a MIXTAPE!!!

It's a handy way to play your iPod in the car if you get an adapter.

We found a box that had a few tapes in it. My wife still has a bookshelf stereo with dual tape decks. It was fun watching the kids try to figure out how to use it.

I wonder why they didn’t include some method for utilizing the tape deck motor to provide power. It will be spinning anyway, might as well use the energy for something.

I have a box of Filipino & central american pop music cassettes that I found in my former Peru resident FJ60 you’re welcome to have.

Tape decks spin kinda slowly, and there’s not a lot of room in the cassette for coils anyways. I doubt it would be possible to produce enough electricity to keep it running.

I had a blazer for 7 years and the only tape I had was the Dead Kennedy’s. I just left it in there until I sold the truck. Tape is around here somewhere. My NB Miata has a tape deck, but I never use it.

We’ve had issues with this with a GM stock deck in my wife’s car when using it with the built in microphone for phone calls. In longer spots of silence, the desk would think that the tape is over and start flipping sides or fast forwarding or something like that..
